Kuching ART line set to be usable in 2025
The much anticipated Kuching Automated Rapid Transit (ART) is projected to be up and running in 2025.
Based on the Sarawak Metro website, the Kuching ART line project timeline has already started this year (2020), with a pilot test of the service scheduled in 2023.
If everything goes right Kuching’s very first ART line will start in 2025, with the Samarahan Line beginning service.
This will be followed by the Serian Line the following year.
The Samarah ART Line starts in Kuching City at the currently under construction Hikmah Exchange, with 12 stations planned to be built.
The proposed route of the Samarahan Line would cover:

- Jalan Tabuan
- Swinburne
- Simpang Tiga
- Vivacity Megamall
- Wisma Wan
- PPKS
- Emart
- Riveria
- La Promenade
- Sarawak Heart Centre

- INTAN
- UITM
- SALCRA
- AIMAN MALL
- SUMMER MALL
The Serian Line on the other hand would start at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Headquarters in 12th mile with 11 stations. It would cover areas nearby:

- Kota Sentosa
- Kuching Sentral
- Kuching Airport
- BDC
- Gala City
- CityOne Megamall
- JPN
- The Spring Mall
