The construction of BCCK 2, expected to be the biggest convention centre in Sarawak once completed, is proposed to be completed by 2028.
According to a news report from DayakDaily, Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Minister, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah had expressed his hope that the new convention centre would be ready as soon as possible.
He stated that he would like it to be completed before 2028.
The website said that Karim had confirmed that the contractor for the project had been identified for the constrction of the project.
Once completed, the BCCK 2 will able to house 10,000 people at one time, making it the biggest convention centre in Sarawak.
In addition to that, was also quoted by Utusan Borneo as hoping that the BCCK 2 would be completed in time for the International Water Exhibition Congress 2028 which is hosted by Kuching.
The event is expected to attract some 10,000 participant, from over 80 countries reported MalayMail.
Currently, BCCK (Borneo Convention Centre Kuching) is the biggest convention centre in Kuching with a 5,000 capacity.
Besides BCCK, Kuching is also home to purpose built convention centres like the Penview Convention Centre in Demak, and Hikmah Exchange Event Centre in the city centre.
