Two allowed in one car now
The Sarawak government has decided to follow the Federal government ruling to allow two passengers in one car during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
This means that those in Kuching would effectively be allowed to go out in pairs in one car as well.
However, the ruling will only apply to those in the same household said Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee Chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas in a statement today.
“As of today, Sarawak will abide by this new national ruling.
“We will now allow two immediate members to travel in a car for the purpose of buying food, medicine, daily necessities, dietary supplements or any other goods from any provider of essential services or to seek healthcare and medical services.
“As in the national ruling, it cannot be more than two persons in a car.” said Doughlas Uggah.
Sarawak had previously allowed two passengers in one car for farming purposes only.
Yesterday, Malaysia Safety Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the public can go out in pairs in one car, provided they come from the same household, and are going out with aim to buy essentials, medicine and food.
The previous restriction was to allow only one car per person.
