Parking coupons re-imposed in Kuching City
After months allowing members of the public to park for free within Kuching City, both the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and Council of the City of Kuching South (MBKS) on 14th of July, announced that they will be re-imposing such fees again.
The move will see car owners parking on either DBKU or MBKS designated parking spots (mostly public carparks) required to display their parking coupons on their vehicles from 14 July 2021 onwards.
MBKS in a brief statement said “In line with the decision made by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to allow almost all economic sectors and business activities across Sarawak to resume operations under the NRP Phase 2 from today onwards, the parking fees will be re-imposed effective from today – 14th July 2021 onwards at the designated coupon parking places within the Council of the City of Kuching South.”
Similarly, the Mayor of Kuching North also confirmed that public carparks under DBKU will also start re-imposing the parking coupons from 14 July 2021.
Where to buy Kuching parking coupons
Kuching parking coupons can be bought from parking warden booths around the city.
There are 34 parking coupons booths located at strategic location in the Kuching City in denominations of RM0.20, RM0.50 and RM0.80.
The RM0.20 parking coupons can only be used for the 1st half hour of parking, the RM0.50 parking coupons must be used for the 2nd half hour and the RM0.80 parking coupons for the 3rd half hour and every subsequent half hour thereof.
Failure to display parking coupons will result in compounds by both DBKU and MBKS.
