Matang picnic spots in Kuching closed until year end

The popular picnic spots in Matang, Kuching, will be closed temporarily for safety reasons which is cause by unfavourable and unpredictable weather conditions.

According to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), the temporary closure will last until December 31, 2022.

The first picnic spots temporarily closed is the Matang Wildlife Centre’s picnic spot, in which the closure includes trekking trail to Kubah National Park, and picnic spots at Sungai Rayu and Sungai Senduk Waterfall.

The second popular Matang picnic spot closed temporarily by the corporation is the Matang Family Park Stage 2.

In addition to that, all hiking trails in Kubah National Park will be closed during any unfavourable weather conditions such as heavy rain, continuous rain, strong wind and after heavy or continuous rain.

The park management cited that the closure during such weathers is to avoid fallen branches and slippery trails which could lead to injury or loss of life.

Despite the temporary closure the Kubah National Park will continue with its frogging activity win which visitors are required to book their slot preferably one day before their intended trip.
