Kuching gets first EMCO as Kuching district turns into red zone
Kuching District in Kuching Division is now a red zone for Covid-19 cases after the district recorded another 16 more cases of the virus today.
The change in zone was declared by the Sarawak Disaster Management Comitee (SDMC) in a statement today which said that Kuching had collected 49 positive cases of the virus in the last 14 days.
Due to the announcement, SDMC also announced several stringent measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 with contact tracing and increased number of swab test conducted division wide.
Among areas having active screening are Premier 101, Kampung Haji Baki, Gala City
Among the key announcements by SDMC today is the introduction of Kuching’s very first Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Kampung Haji Baki.
The village has been hard hit by the virus and SDMC has made it clear that the EMCO will commence from 28 October (from 6.00 pm) to 10 November 2020 at the village.
The areas involved by the EMCO are
- Kampung Haji Baki Block A
- Kampung Haji Baki Block B
- Kampung Haji Baki Block C
SDMC also announced that all Entertainment Centers (Karaoke and Nightclubs) and Reflexology Centers in Kuching will be temporarily closed from October 28 2020 until further notice.
