The contractor which will build the important Rembus Depot in Kota Samarahan for the Kuching ART Project under the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project was recently announced by Sarawak Metro.
According to a report by DayakDaily, the company in charge of the project had awarded Hock Seng Lee Bhd (HSL) the contract for the construction and completion Rembus Depot.
According to Sarawak Metro, HSL is was among the seven tender bidders for the project valued at RM64.3 million.
With the announcement of the contractor for the depot, Sarawak Metro anticipates physical work for the ART, or Autonomous Rapid Transit to begin for the Blue Line under Phase 1 of KUTS.
According to the article again, the Depot will also be used for KUTS’s hydrogen feeder bus fleet, as well as SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd’s hydrogen production plant and it will also house other facilities like a hydrogen refuelling facility, stabling yard, test track, automatic wash plant, mechanical and infrastructure workshop, and administration building.
It is understood that the Depot is scheduled to begin operation in the fourth quarter of 2025, which is coinciding with the opening of Stage 1 of the Kuching ART System Blue Line.
