Kuching City gets free WiFi with RA-Fi

The people of Kuching City can now surf the internet for free at several selected areas in the city with the launch of Free Wifi for Rakyat, or RA-Fi.

For starters, areas covered by the wifi include the Kuching Waterfont, Padang Merdeka, Satok and i-Com Square.

Other areas such as the Sarawak General Hospital, tHe Springs Shopping Mall, the Kuching Internaional Airport, and Petra Jaya will get coverage in the near future.

It is understood that promotional banners will be used to promote areas already covered by RA-Fi, and the speed is 5Mbps.

To use the service, users need to register at the landing page once they connect to the wifi connection, and registration is free.

RA-Fi is provided by PP Telecomunication Sdn. Bhd and cost RM10 million to roll out. Speeds have been reported to be very stable right now, and it is open for all, including foreigners to use.
