Government discourages inter-division travel from Kuching

The Sarawak government today announced that inter-division travel within Sarawak is not encouraged, particularly heading outside of Kuching.

Deputy Chief Minister, Douglas Uggah, in a press conference today said that travel should only be done under three conditions as seen below:

  1. Death of a family member
  2. Movement of essential services
  3. Official work purposes

In the question and answer session, Douglas also stated that inter-division travel is not banned, but strongly discouraged, particularly between Kuching to other divisions.

Kuching currently has hit 38 Covid-19 cases, excluding cases deemed as ‘imported cases’.

It has the most number of cases in Sarawak to date.

The count puts Kuching in the yellow zone for Covid-19 cases, only shy of two more to turn the division into red.
