Gigantic statue of Jesus erected in Singai, Bau
'Christ the King Statue' to be officially blessed on new year
A massive Jesus statue, known as ‘Christ the King Statue’ has been erected majestically at the foot of Mount Singai in Bau.
There are no details of the dimension of statue, but it is believed that the statue is among the tallest of its kind in Sarawak.
Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep in a Facebook post on 22 December 2023 also said that the statue is another iconic religious landmark for the Christian community.
The photo below (taken from Henry Jinep’s Facebook) showed that the statue is at least three storeys tall.
The post further stated that the placement of the statue was done after Henry held discussions with the church elders and committee members.
It was then decided that the location of the statue would be at the foot of the church to mark the area as an important religious ground .
The statue now sits at the entrance of the Catholic Memorial Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) at Mount Singai, which is already housing a built-up church, and other building facilities which are used for the church.
It was also made known in the post that the statue will be blessed on new year (January 1, 2024) after a 10AM holy mass prayer at the entrance compound of the Catholic Memorial Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) at Mount Singai.
The blessing ceremony of the Christ the King Statue will be done by His Grace Archbishop Simon Poh with the community of the church inviting all Christians to join in.
It is expected that the statues will not only be an important landmark for the church and the Christian community in Sarawak, but also serve as a major tourist attraction to the already popular Mount Singai.
Currently, there is also a 20foot statue of Jesus in Putatan, Sabah which was constructed at Sinundu Hill in 2019.
