Tanjung Aru Firsat Beach parking area closed permanently

Developer hopes to reduce traffic congestion along Jalan Aru and Jalan Mat Salleh

The Tanjung Aru Eco Development Sdn. Bhd. (TAED) announced that the parking area at Tanjung Aru Firsat Beach (opposite Waikiki Condominium) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, will be permanently closed from from 24th December 2023.

The move is to reduce daily traffic congestion around Jalan Aru and Jalan Mat Salleh.

According to a press release sent to us, the vehicles will no longer be permitted to park in the parking area at Tanjung Aru Firsat Beach and instead need to parkat the expanded parking 2 area.

The extended Parking 2 can accomodate an additional 200 and above cars.

Despite the closure of the parking area, stall operators will still be allowed to enter the area for delivery and pick-up purposes until 1PM daily.

In addition to that, the management is looking into installing covered and lighted walkways connecting Parking 1 & Parking 2 to the hawkers’ stalls areas.

“To ensure that there will be sufficient parking spaces always to accommodate visitors to Tanjung Aru Beach, Tanjung Aru Eco Development Sdn Bhd (TAED) has expanded Parking 2 with an additional 200+ parking spaces. We have also carried out improvements to Parking 1 for users’ convenience.

“Besides that, covered and lighted walkways will also be constructed connecting Parking 1 & Parking 2 to the hawkers’ stalls area. We hope this new arrangement will mitigate traffic congestion along Jalan Aru and Mat Salleh without inconveniencing Tanjung Aru Beach visitors,” said Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin, the General Manager of TAED in the statement.

The management will also waive parking fees from December 24th to 31st in conjunction with Christmas and New Year the statement further added.
