Taste of Borneo 4.0 Cultural Carnival to break Guinness World Records in July 2026

Taste of Borneo Cultural Carnival 4.0 is officially returning, and it’s gearing up to be the most massive celebration this coming July 2026.
The event, set to run for 12 spectacular days, will be a carnival from 1st to 12th July 2026 at the Boulevard Open Car Park in Miri.
As recently highlighted during its official launch, this massive event is strategically timed to build momentum for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, solidifying Miri’s status as a major cultural hub in the region.
A Global Cultural Exchange
What makes the Taste of Borneo 4.0 truly special is its commitment to cross-border unity. The festival will retain its beloved “Cultural Village” concept, allowing you to walk through and experience the daily lifestyles of Sarawak’s main ethnic groups.
For this 2026 edition, Taste of Borneo’s “Ethnic Communities’ Cultural Exchange Nights.” will be going international, hence elevating the stature of the carnival even further.
According to Utusan Borneo, attendees will be treated to performances not only from Sabah, Brunei, and Indonesia but also from cultural delegations traveling all the way from Yunnan, China which shares some similarities with the Iban, Bidayuh, and Melanau peoples.
In addition, the organizers are aiming straight for the Guinness World Records and the Malaysia Book of Records by having the most traditional woven baskets in an event.
Visitors are also expected to be able to stroll through a museum-style mini-exhibition featuring over 1,000 bamboo and rattan woven baskets a stunning tribute to indigenous craftsmanship.
Beyond the exhibits, this 12-day carnival will also have public concerts featuring local artistes, secondary school cultural dance competitions, and even a vibrant street parade led by school musical bands.
The main event of the festival will of course be the stalls offering mouth-watering Bornean food, creative local products, and authentic handicrafts.
About The Taste of Borneo
First launched in 2017, the “Taste of Borneo Carnival” began as a localized effort by the Sarawak Chinese Association and various indigenous groups to celebrate the region’s rich multicultural tapestry.
After a brief hiatus caused by the global pandemic, the beloved festival triumphantly returned in 2023, expanding its scope significantly.
As reported by the Sarawak Premier Department, the immensely successful 3.0 edition in 2024 drew tourism boards from Sabah, Brunei, and Kalimantan, proving the festival’s growing international appeal.
Today, the Taste of Borneo stands not just as a Miri hallmark event, but as an enduring symbol of Sarawakian unity, cross-cultural harmony, and our shared Bornean heritage.
