Returning Malaysians to be isolated in quarantine centers from 3 April

All Malaysians returning to Malaysia will be quarantined for 14 days by the government beginning 3rd April 2020.

The announcement was made by Malaysian Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Malaysians arriving in airports nationwide will be allowed in, but they will no longer be asked to observed the 14-day self quarantine at their respective private homes as before.

Instead, they will be brought to the selected quarantine centers managed by the government in which the health ministry will ensure they observe the 14-day quarantine.

The move includes transporting them to the quarantine centers in which health screenings would also be conducted by health officials according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by the Health Ministry.

The government therefore advices the public especially family members of returning Malaysians to not pick up their family members as they (the returning Malaysians) would be taken immediately to their respective quarantine centers.

Communication between the returning Malaysians and their family members would be still allowed using technology.

The move to quarantine incoming Malaysians is to curb the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic in Malaysia.
