National parks in Sarawak to change management

The Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry is working to take over the task of managing national parks in the Sarawak soon.

Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is the Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister was quoted by The Borneo Post as saying that his ministry has all the facilities that could be utilised to further promote the national parks in Sarawak as tourist attractions.

Abdul Karim further added that the shift is still in the early stages but he believed that “his ministry is the right authority to take good care of the national parks and turn them into places of interest for visitors to Sarawak”.

Currently, national parks are managed by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC).
