Medan Niaga Satok closed until 13 August 2020

The popular Medan Niaga Satok, better known as Satok market here in Kubah will be closed from 30 July 2020 until 13 August 2020.

On a noticed posted posted by FAMA Sarawak, who runs the premise, and later shared by Kuching North City Council (DBKU), the closure of the whole complex was instructed by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).

The notice read that the closure was in accordance to Sub-section 18 (1) (f) of the Akta Pencegahan dan Pengawalan Penyakit Berjangkit 1988.

It also stated that the closude was for disinfection works.

The market recently had four of its traders who had undergone screening on July 25 and 26 tested positive for the highly contagious Covid-19, hence creating a new cluster known as Satok Cluster.

In an immediate response, the market was closed down for one day for disinfection purposes, but was later re-opened once the process was done.

The latest instruction from KKM however instructed the market to be closed down until 13 August instead.
