If you have not noticed, several malls in Kuching now use a mobile app for parking payment.
While not all malls are using the automated system, it’s installed in quite a few malls and also buildings.
The system isn’t exactly new, introduced first, if I am not mistaken, at CityOne Megamall Kuching.
It’s easy to identify malls or buildings using the system as the parking barrier gates with the system no longer issue parking tickets for cars that enter its parking area.
Instead, car plate numbers are scanned using a scanner upon entry and synced with the mobile app.
Aside from reducing fuss when entering the parking area, the use of such system also means that the unpleasant odour which usually comes with underground parking will not enter the car as the windshield will no longer have to be winded down to take the parking ticket.
However, you must make sure your plate number is in good condition so that it can be read by the scanner.
How to pay parking in Kuching using Apps
If you are in Kuching and need/want to use mobile app for parking, you need to have two apps ready, namely the S-Pay Global (Sarawak Pay) Wallet app and account, and the parking app which is known as Pay & Go.
You can download both apps at the link below:
Once that’s done installing and registering, click on the Pay & Go app, and go to Parking.
Here, you will need to choose which parking space/mall you are using, and once a selection is made, you need to enter your car plate number.
Enter your car number, and click ‘OK’.
This will bring you to S-Pay in which you need to make payment for the parking duration you had used.
Make and confirm the payment, and once payment is done, the S-Pay Global app will redirect you back to the Pay & Go app and show your payment has been completed.
You can now exit the parking with ease.
A system that has reduced much hassle
The use of the mobile app to pay for parking in malls and selected parkings in Kuching indeed helps reduce queuing.
It’s not only easy to use, but also very convenient. Many have prised its implementation due to its ease of use.
While not all malls and public places have adopted the system, it is hoped that the system will be expanded in the near future.
