Six national parks in Kuching to get 100Mbps internet
The Sarawak government announced that six national parks in Kuching will be equipped with high speed internet.
According to a news report by DayakDaily, the internet speeds installed at these national parks will be using fibre-optic technology with speeds at 100Mbps.
A shared budget of RM3 million had been allocated to upgrade internet connectivity at these national parks, with another three more national parks in Miri also identified for the upgrade.
The project was announced by Sarawak Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Abang Openg, who also added that the project will be undertaken by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA).
The national parks in Kuching involved in the upgrade are Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, Kubah National Park, Tanjung Datu National Park, Gunung Gading National Park, Matang Wildlife Centre, and Bako National Park.
The other two national parks are in Miri namely Niah National Park and Lambir National Park, and another one is Similajau National Park, in Bintulu.
It was not mentioned when the facility would be available, but the move to wire up all nine national parks will indeed be welcomed as Internet in Kuching national parks are indeed poor.
