More flights to Kuching in 2023
Sarawak is looking into getting more flights into Sarawak with the Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah saying that his ministry has been working closely with the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) to do so.
The MalaysianReserve reported that Sarawak intends to regain its pre-pandemic number of flights gradually.
Currently, the Malaysia Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) had already approved 587 flights per week but only 408 flights are being flown.
Of the total, 35 flights were international while the rest are domestic flights.
Kuching in particular is currently the most served international airport in Sarawak, with not less than four airlines having a route to Kuching.
With the announcement, it is expected that Kuching will be even better connected as the near year begins next year.
