MetroCity Matang New Township

Residents in Kuching, or more specifically in Matang can look forward to having more shops and facilities in the coming future with the announcement of MetroCity which is also known as Matang New Township. The project is developed by Chong Kia Hoi Realty Sdn Bhd, which is also responsible for other notable projects such as UniSquare, Uni Garden and Demak Laut Commercial Centre.

MetroCity: The New Matang Township

MetroCity will see the development of a 183-acre land near the old Matang Road. Among the notable features of MetroCity include:

  • a 2 storey commercial mall (on 8.1 acres of land),
  • 314 shops,
  • a 4-storey 120 room hotel,
  • a medical center,
  • a school,
  • a private medical center,
  • a church,
  • a multi-purpose town hall,
  • a mosque,
  • a fast food-drive thru,
  • 525 residential houses,
  • 6 blocks of apartments/condominiums.

The masterplan looks promising, and Matang is indeed a growing area.  It would however be interesting to know how much the property would cost as reports do suggest it going to be as high as RM700k.  The masterplan also further reveals that ther might be a second bridge linking Sg Maong with Matang Jaya.  To check out/enlarge the images, click the images below:
