Kuching South cancels planned Ramadan Bazaar
Council of the City of Kuching South (MBKS) today made it known that they would also be cancelling their plans to hold their popular Ramadan Bazaar at Stutong Community Market.
The bazaar, one of the biggest in Kuching, was supposed to be held this year as the number of Covid-19 infections dwindled in Kuching.
However, the numbers of Covid-19 infections have since increased, and hence caused MBKS to retract their approval on the Ramadan Bazaar which is highly popular among locals.
“Due to the surge of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak, MBKS has decided to cancel the Ramadan Bazaar which is supposed to be held at the Parking Lots near Stutong Community Market.” MBKS said in a statement.
“MBKS decided to take this precaution to avoid huge crowd that may risk the public and the possibility of the spread of Covid-19 which would hamper Government’s effort to eradicate the pandemic completely.” explained the statement further.
The decision not to hold Ramadan Bazaars in Kuching South means that two major local authorities in Kuching will not hold any Ramadan Bazaars within their jurisdiction this year.
This comes after Kuching North City Council (DBKU) also announced they would cancel all their planned Ramadan Bazaars this year due to the increasing number of Covid-19 infections in Kuching.
