Kuching City, or more accurately the South Kuching City Council was one of two only Asian winners for the “Tourist City Award”, which is an award organised by the United Nations, World Cities Scientific Development Alliance and the Sister Cities International.
The award gives Kuching a huge edge over 200 city officials from 30 countries took part in the competition. Other awards such as the “Ecological City Award” and the “Cultural City Award” went to Cape Town in South Africa and Cincinnati in Ohio, United States, respectively. [Source: The Star]
