Kuching City free bus service – All you need to know

Members of the public can start using the Kuching City free bus service to go around Kuching City from this Friday, 1st March 2019.

This is the first electrical powered bus in Sarawak.

The bus service is an effort by the government to improve tourism and congestion in Kuching City.

The service is managed by HENZ Pacific Sdn Bhd will make 20 stops around the city, and covers some 14KM of road known as Route 101.

WHAT IS ROUTE 101?

Route 101 begins at the Kuching Open Air Market, covers  iCom Square and Satok Central Business District.

Significant stops for the bus are Kuching Main Bazaar, Wisma Satok, iCom Square, Kuching Waterfront, MBKS Recreation Park, The Hills and Riverside Majestic Hotel.

Tourist spots covered by the bus are Main Bazaar, Kuching Waterfront, Chinese History Museum, Darul Hana Bridge, Open Air Market, Sarawak Museum, Satok Suspension Bridge and the Kuching General Post Office.

HOW TO USE KUCHING FREE BUS?

To use the bus, simply wait at any of the stops listed under Route 101.  The bus should stop and you can get on it to your next destination.

The bus service is available from 7AM to 6PM daily and is free to use for all.

Bus service will have a 60 minute interval on every stop.

FACILITIES ON CITY FREE BUS SERVICE

The introduction of such move would help boost tourist movement around Kuching City, as well as also help decrease congestion along Route 101.

Among the facilities available for those using the bus are:

  • Free WiFi by Digi
  • The bus is disable friendly.
  • GPS tracking to know where the bus is
  • The bus is air-condition

HOW LONG WILL THE FREE BUS SERVICE BE AVAILABLE?

The Kuching City free bus service Will be available for a 3 month trial basis from 1st March 2019.

If the service rendered receives good response, it would be extended for up to three years.
