Dine-in allowed in Kuching Division from 20 September 2021

Dine-in will be allowed in Kuching Division as well as all the other Southern Districts which previously had such activity banned.

Previously, dine-in was not allowed in the district of Bau, Lundu, Serian, Kuching, Asajaya, Tebedu, Simunjan and Samarahan as the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) used the move to curb Covid-19 infections which had been on the rise.

However, the move didn’t yield the expected results as the number of Covdi-19 continued to grow despite the dine-in ban.

This led to many feeling that dine-in wasn’t the main reason of infections, and today, SDMC announced that dine-in will be once more allowed with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place.

DayakDaily reports that among the major SOPs imposed by SDMC to allow dine-in at an eatery would be the vaccination status of the customer, worker and food operator.

SDMC requires the customer, operator and workers of the food establishment to be fully vaccinated for dine-in to be allowed at a premise, and that 14 days had passed after their second dose vaccination to be considered fully vaccinated.

Aside from the allowance to dine – in, SDMC had also announce the extension of business hours by two hours which means business can operate until 10PM from 20 September 2021.
