RM475K BDC Public Park upgrade completed and open to public

The BDC Public Park in Kuching has concluded its 16-week upgrade, expected to benefit those staying within the area greatly.

This vital revitalisation effort, completed on October 21, 2025, was part of the Public Park Upgrading Programme (Program Naik Taraf Taman Awam ).

The project was a substantial investment in public well-being, costing over RM475,000, with funding secured from the Department of Landscape Malaysia (Jabatan Landskap Negara) under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

A primary focus of the upgrade was the introduction of new amenities.

Key additions include a welcoming entrance pavilion and new signage, making the park more visible and accessible.

The park also now features modern children’s play equipment and dedicated outdoor fitness facilities

The children’s playgrounds also received new, shock-absorbent flooring made from recycled tyres.

In addition, existing paths and walkways were improved, and fresh landscaping, including the planting of new trees and shrubs, is expected to enhanced the park’s aesthetic and ecological value.

Aside from BDC Public Park, Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said that MBKS is looking to extend similar upgrades to other community spaces, including open areas at Lorong F, Taman BDC, Hui Sing, and Taman Sahabat.
