38 Hydrogen Trams confirmed for Sarawak ART System

The much awaited Sarawak Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) will boast a fleet of 38 hydrogen trams.

According to MalayMail, the Sarawak government had already made a firm order of the trams.

These trams are expected to arrive after a successful completion of the Kuching Isthmus engineering run and Proof-of-Concept (POC) exercise which will be done along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.

According to the news portal again, Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, had said that the 38 ART vehicles will provide efficient coverage for three ART lines in Kuching.

The three lines are the Red Line, Green Line and Blue Line.

TheEdge on the other hand reported that the Premier promised that fares for the Sarawak ART will be affordable once it starts its commercial use.

He also said that Sarawak’s very own wallet, S-Pay Global, will also be added to the trams service to allow users the tram experience to be cashless.

The Sarawak hydrogen trams is part of the Kuching Urban Transport System (KUTS) which is set to modernise public transportation in Sarawak.
