Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is working with Kuching Polytechnic Sarawak (PKS) to enhance the tourist maps for Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri. The collaboration was made possible through the Kenyalang Creative Map Competition (KCMC).

KCMC is jointly organised by the Land Surveyors Board Sarawak (LSBS), HERE Malaysia Sdn Bhd, The Association of Consulting Licensed Land Surveyors Sarawak (ACLS) and Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RSIM) with the aim to give students an opportunity to be creative when creating maps.

Organized from August 1 to 31, the KCMC was opened to students from Polytechnics, universities and colleges in Malaysia, with 73 maps submitted for the competition.

A press release by STB revealed that out of the 73 maps received, 21 were Kuching maps, 10 Sibu, 13 Bintulu and 29 Miri maps.

The final round last saw Kuching Polytechnic Sarawak (PKS) winning all the four categories for the Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri maps earning them RM600.00 in cash, a plaque and a certificate for each participant in the team. –
