More flights to enter Sarawak from Oct 1

There are plans to increase flight frequency into Sarawak this coming October 1, 2021.

According to a report by DayakDaily, plans to increase the flight frequency were made known by Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

Datuk Lee was quoted as saying that the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) had agreed to increase flights to 87 flights weekly, from the current 22 flights per week.

The decision was made after considering several factors which include high airline fare, reduction of travel restrictions as well the gradual reopening of Sarawak tourism.

The number of fights to Sarawak had been significantly reduced due to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Covid-19 in recent months.

During this time, flights which were able to enter or leave Sarawak were subject to strict regulations and procedures particularly for their passengers.

However, with Kuching now entering the third phase of the National Recovery Plan this October, more business have been allowed to open and operate.

Also allowed are local travel within the same district.
