Kuching to host grand Sarawak-level Gawai Dayak celebration

KUCHING – Kuching will be hosting one of the biggest Sarawak-level Gawai Dayak celebration this coming June 22 to 23.

According to a report by The Borneo Post, the highlight of the Sarawak-level Gawai Dayak celebration would be a procession showcasing the diversity of Dayak cultural grandeur.

It is understood that the procession will start near Tun Jugah Mall and end at the Kuching Waterfront.

Aside from the procession, other activities include a  Gawai Dayak Bazaar, a Gawai concert and a Gawai Dayak dinner at a local convention centre.

Details on the celebration have yet to be formally released just yet, but the preparations are currently on-going.

Gawai Dayak is the name of the harvest festival celebrated by the Dayak tribe in Sarawak. It usually falls on 1st and 2nd of June. – KuchingBorneo.info
