Kuching Tattoo Festival: All you need to know
The Kuching Tattoo Festival is a culture and arts festival linked closely to the Dayak community.
The festival intends to highlight tattoo art among the community as it is held to inspiration the younger generation to have more interests in arts and culture.
Aside from focusing on tattoos, event also intends to highlights Dayak handicrafts, food and drinks, traditional rituals and ceremonies.
Visitors can also get themselves inked at the event with the event gaining participation from tattoo artist from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and the Philippines.
According to an article by Borneo Post, the organizers of the event are Boi Skolang, 37, from Skrang Tattoo at China Street here and Nicholas Jenta, 33, from Inkzation Tattoo, Kota Samarahan
Dates of Kuching Tattoo Festival
The festival was initially planned for 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic caused the event to be cancelled.
It is a three day event, which starts from 10AM to 9PM daily.
That said, the 2022 edition will be the first to be held and it will happen from Sept 30 until Oct 2.
What to expect at the Tattoo Festival
The event will have a ‘miring’ ceremony with tattoo exhibition and demonstrations done by local and international artist.
Since this is the first time the event is happening, there’s no photos of the event to show off just yet.
Kuching Tattoo Festival venue
The Kuching Tattoo fest will be held at the DBNA Hall which is located as you can see in the map below.
To go to the DBNA Hall, it is advisable to either rent a car, hire a taxi or take Grab as the hall is quite far from the main road and public transportation is hard to come by.
