Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival (KIMF)

The Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival (KIMF) is a food based event to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, the festival has been gaining popularity among locals and tourist at it is fast becoming a landmark event in Kuching.

During this festival, Kuching’s very own China Town will be turned into a pedestarian street at night, with thousands coming to enjoy cultural performances as well as street food.

Previous editions of the Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival

The event is held annually, but it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The dates below are the ones we noted.

What to expect during the Kuching Mooncake festival

It will be held from 5.00 pm to 11pm along Carpenter Street and Ewe Hai street in Downtown Kuching.

The event brings together participants from all races, cultures and walks of life to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Despite being a Chinese related celebrations, many non-Chinese locals not only join in as audiences and patrons, but as vendors and competition participants.

Aside from featuring Chinese cultural performances and traditions, the festival also features food, music and cultural performances along a lantern-lit scenic street, which is one of Kuching’s oldest streets.

With that said, expect a lot of food, cultural performances and music during this festival.

It’s highly advised you wear something comfortable when you go to the festival.

As mentioned above, the Intercultural Mooncake Festival is held at Carpenter Street, which is one of Kuching’s oldest street.
