The direct flight to Hong Kong via Hong Kong Airlines would be suspended effective February 25th.
No reason of why such action was taken, but it is believed to be due to poor load factors.
Hong Kong Airline connected Kuching and Hong Kong twice a week since May last year, making it one of the few airlines to connect Kuching to a city outside of Malaysia.
The suspension of the route would mean that Kuching citizens wanting to fly to Hong Kong would need to either go to Kota Kinabalu, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur first in order to reach the island.
