AirBorneo announce routes from Kuching to KL & Singapore for as Low as RM375!
After months of eager anticipation, Sarawak’s very own state-owned boutique airline, AirBorneo, has finally unveiled its inaugural commercial jet operations.
Promising to make air travel more affordable and convenient for locals and tourists alike, AirBorneo is kicking off its ambitious journey by launching direct flights from Kuching to two of the most vital hubs in Southeast Asia: Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Based on news reports, AirBorneo will officially commence its twice-daily flights connecting Kuching International Airport (KCH) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) Terminal 1 from July 20th, 2026.
The airline opened its ticket sales on July 7, drawing massive excitement thanks to its introductory ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ fare.
While some have also questioned the RM375 all-in one way fare, frequent flyers have commended the price which they deem incredibly accessible at RM375 for Economy Class tickets, and RM736 for Business Class.
With the airline, customers get a full-service carrier which include checked baggage and in-flight meals at no extra cost. You can read their official news release here.
Going International: Kuching to Singapore Changi
Just days after opening bookings for the KL route, AirBorneo dropped another massive piece of news for travelers.
On July 22, 2026, the airline will officially go international with daily flights from Kuching to Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4.
Tickets for the Singapore route officially went on sale on July 13 with promotional one-way all-in fares are starting from just RM399 for Economy Class and RM871 for Business Class.
Like the Kuala Lumpur route, frequent flyers deem the rates very competitive with many feeling that the direct link to one of Asia’s largest aviation hubs will help skyrocket Sarawak’s tourism and give local businesses a massive regional advantage.
The aircraft
For both routes, AirBorneo will be using two wet-leased Boeing 737-800 jets.
The aircraft cabin configuration features 162 seats in total, providing 12 Business Class seats and 150 Economy Class seats with many commending the choice of aircraft.
It is understood that AirBorneo plans to increase the number of aircraft if operates every three months, with the airline looking at owning 17 jet engine planes by 2030.
A Proud Heritage and Future Ambitions
AirBorneo was born from the Sarawak government’s strategic acquisition of regional carrier MASwings to create a state-owned boutique airline.
Originally conceived by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the airline aims to stabilise flight fares and improve regional connectivity for Sarawakians without being strictly profit-oriented.
Aside from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, AirBorneo also planning routes to South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Germany, alongside becoming the official carrier for the upcoming 2027 SEA Games.
