Sarawak has a new administrative heart which is called Kompleks Satria Pertiwi (Satria Pertiwi Complex).
After decades of operating from Wisma Bapa Malaysia, the Sarawak government has officially moved into the impressive Kompleks Satria Pertiwi.
It is located in Petra Jaya, Kuching, with this stunning new complex hard to miss when passing through Jalan Datuk Patinggi haji Abdul Rahman Yakub.
Prior to it’s completion and naming, it was dubbed “Sarawak’s White House” by many due to its striking white facade and neoclassical design.
The omplex was officially named and launched on August 4, 2025 coinciding with the 75th birthday of Sarawak’s Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
About the name and design
According to sources, the name “Satria Pertiwi” was carefully chosen to reflect the core values of Sarawak.
‘Satria’ means warrior or knight in Malay, while ‘Pertiwi’ means motherland.
Together, the name evokes the spirit of struggle, leadership, and dedication shown by the people of Sarawak in building a strong, sovereign, and competitive state.
The architecture itself, with its blend of neoclassical and colonial styles, pays homage to Sarawak’s rich history while symbolizing the unity of its diverse, multi-racial population.
Why the New Complex?
The decision to build a new administrative hub was driven by practical needs, particularly security concerns. The previous location, Wisma Bapa Malaysia, was publicly accessible, making it challenging to secure.
Kompleks Satria Pertiwi, on the other hand, is designed to be a secure and centralized hub for state governance. The three-story complex is divided into three key areas:
- The Main Office Building: This is the nerve center, housing the Sarawak Premier’s office and various key administrative units. It’s also home to the state Cabinet secretariat, enabling more efficient and streamlined planning.
- The Premier’s Official Residence: This isn’t a personal home but a dedicated, official space for welcoming high-level dignitaries and hosting important events.
- The Multipurpose Hall: This large hall serves as a venue for official functions and events, adding to the complex’s versatility.
Beyond these main components, the complex is kitted out with modern, international-standard facilities, including state-of-the-art conference rooms, media centers, and meeting spaces.
A New Chapter for Sarawak
The completion and launch of the Kompleks Satria Pertiwi mark a significant milestone for Sarawak.
It represents the Sarawak’s commitment to modernize its infrastructure and creating a more efficient and secure environment for its government.
As the new heart of Sarawak’s administration, this complex is set to play a crucial role in shaping the state’s future for years to come.
