The first ever Kuching Comic-con, also the first ever Comic-con in East Malaysia, is in full swing preparations as the organizers set up the stage, backdrops, booth area and more.
The massive event is happening this weekend at CityOne Megamall, and it is expected to bring massive crowd to one of Kuching’s largest malls.
Images shared by the founder of the event, Musriffin Sani, showed the preparations by his crew as they transform the event space of CityOne Megamall into a massive space for hobby and comic enthusiast and fans.
The big names
Among the major highlights and major turn up for the Kuching Comic-con 2024 is comic artist Gayour who is famous for his magazine ‘Bersama Selamanya’, Adam John who has a hit show called ‘The Adam John Show’ and voice animator, Khairul Ammar Jamal which is popularly known as ‘Gecho’.
Other major names include Hafiz Kuuga, Art of Wud, Ah Thong, Dewi Miyo, D2K, Syukri and Aviltone with Salleh Mohidin being the moderator for panel sessions, and bubbly Lenny emceeing for the whole event.

Merchandise sales
Aside from the preparation for the Kuching Comic-con 2024, merchandise in the form of exclusive graphic tee, a snapback cap and a tote bag are also currently on-going with those interested able to pre-order the merchandise which are limited to just 100 pieces each.

Come and be part of East Malaysia’s first Comic-con
When contacted, even founder, Musriffin told us at KuchingBorneo that physical preparations for Kuching and East Malaysia’s first ever Comic-con had started since Monday.
He told us that everything should be ready by Thursday evening, and they will use Friday evening for the final rehearsal of the exciting event.
“Physical preparations have started since yesterday Monday and expected to be ready by Thursday evening. Friday evening will be the final rehearsal for all involve parties.” said Musriffin to us in a message.
In addition, Musriffin also said that he is very thankful for all the help given by collaborators and stretegic partners to make Kuching Comic-con 2024 a reality.
He also added that the public is invited to come experience the first ever comic-con in Kuching and hoped that support for this debut event in Kuching would encourage it to grow bigger and better in coming years.
“Thank you and gratitude to all collaborators and strategic partners in making this project a reality.
“I would urge fans and Kuchinginites to come and “experience” this first ever comic-conference in our own home turf without the need to spend for travel & accommodation.
“Public support is important so that we can bring bigger headliners, international comic artists, animators, actors, film producers and much more to Kuching in the future.” elaborated Musriffin.
Kuching Comic-con 2024 is happening at City-One Megamall this coming Saturday, 19 October 2024 and Sunday, 20 October 2024 from 10AM to 9PM.
