UNIFOR Complex Kuching

The UNIFOR Complex Kuching is a government development meant to serve and become the new headquarters for non-Muslim religious management in Sarawak.

UNIFOR which stands for Unit for Other Religions, with the new complex now being constructed on three acres of prime land at the heart of Kuching City.

The futuristic looking building will be managed by UNIFOR Charitable Trust.

What to expect

Dr Sim Kui Hian who is the Minister of Local Government and Housing Sarawak, in a Facebook posting said that the building will take 30 months to complete.

The proposed building will adopt Green Building Concepts, and it will feature a ten-storey office tower with a two-storey convention facility.

It will have a banquet hall which will be able to hold 1,000 pax, and can be split into three smaller halls.

Beside the UNIFOR Complex is a semi-enclosed spiritual roof garden, and some commercial space.

The building architectural concept is said to be “like a beautifully wrapped present, this innovative architectural design symbolizes a divine gift of unity among religious communities”.

Construction had begun at the in July 2022 with RM70 million allocated by the Sarawak Government to build the complex.

The building is expected to be completed by July 2024 and was at 96 per cent completion as of May 2024.
