Shopping Malls in Kuching

Kuching is fast becoming a shopping heaven for many and here we list down malls which are located around Kuching City. If you have been to any of the malls, or perhaps know that we missed out a couple, let us know.

Please note that only shopping malls and shopping complexes are listed. Hypermarkets such as Servay, MYDIN, Giant, e-Mart and Everise that own their own building are excluded. Please also note that most malls in Kuching operate from 10AM to 10PM daily. The malls listed here are in random order.

WISMA SEBERKAS

Wisma Seberkas

Dubbed Kuching’s biggest IT mall, Wisma Seberkas remains standing after years of operation. Nonetheless, the bigger malls are slowly starting to overshadow this legendary mall, although there are efforts to step up its presence in recent years. The mall doesn’t have any entertainment areas.

KUCHING SENTRAL

Kuching Sentral

Built to become a transportation hub, Kuching Sentral is located a little outside of Kuching City. It has a small exhibition area, and it’s main anchor tenant is the H&L Supermarket. The mall doesn’t have any entertainment areas, but is a great place to hang out, if you are waiting for your connecting flight, or next bus to other sides of Sarawak.

GREEN HEIGHT MALLS

Green Heights Mall

Located in the housing area of BDC, Green Heights Mall is a small two storey mall. Most people come here to buy groceries and eat as there is no entertainment space at the mall. The anchor tenant for the mall is ColdStorage, which sells a variety of international products.

WISMA SATOK

Wisma Satok

Wisma Satok has been around for over 20 years, and the has its best traffic during Hari Raya as it houses a lot of Muslim textile and clothing. The mall doesn’t have any entertainment areas, but is known also as a financial centre due to its proximity to several local banks such as RHB Bank, CIMB Bank, Maybank, and Bank Islam.

WISMA HOPOH

Wisma Hopoh

Wisma Hopoh is probaby one of the smallest malls mall in Kuching, but it has remained operational and lively despite its size. It doesn’t have a large atrium for events, and is known for housing a lot of eye ware, tailor, and saloons. The top two floors of Wisma Hopoh has a large variety of affordable clothing shops, making the mall very popular during Hari Raya. The mall doesn’t have any entertainment areas.

THE SPRING MALL

The Spring Mall

The Spring Mall signifies the start of a new breed of malls in Kuching. These malls have huge food courts, and have dedicated space for bigger events. The Spring is currently the top mall in Kuching, as it has a huge array of major brands, a fantastic foodcourt, a systematic parking area, and numerous disable and child friendly facilities. The mall also has a children playground, as well as an eight screen cinema with 3D screens, and has stayed relevant by the years by making constant renovations.

BOULEVARD SHOPPING MALL

Boulevard shopping mall

Although a bit outskirts, Boulevard Shopping Mall has managed to pull the crowd making it usually busy during weekdays and public holidays. The mall has a huge variety of shops with a good variety of eateries within its tenant list. Outside, there’s a special area for events, and the atrium can host a moderate size event at any time. Vivacity Megamall

VivaCity Megamall is currently the biggest mall in Kuching. Hills Mall

Plaza Merdeka

Plaza Merdeka is located under the Waterfront Hotel. It houses major designer brands and is perfect for shopping, as well as dining. The food court of Plaza Merdeka provides patrons a magnificent view of Padang Merdeka.

TUN JUGAH SHOPPING CENTRE

Tun Jugah shopping mall

Located in the centre of Kuching City, Tun Jugah Mall has undergone major renovations, especially to its popular food court. Today, the mall houses one of the biggest book stores in Kuching City.

HOCK LEE CENTRE

Hock Lee Centre

Well placed in Pending area, Hock Lee Centre has a mixed number of tenants. Popular as a place to shop for shoes, musical instruments and furniture, Hock Lee Centre will need some renovations to ensure customers continue to flock the mall.

RIVERSIDE SHOPPING COMPLEX

Riverside Shopping Mall

Riverside Shopping Mall is one of the earlier shopping malls. Sarawak plaza

Sarawak Plaza has undergone several renovations until it’s current form, and it is popular among locals as a place to hang out and shop for sports attire.  The mall itself also organizes numerous events to draw customers in.

ONE TJ SHOPPING COMPLEX

One TJ

One TJ was designed as an IT Mall for Kuching City. However, it failed to gain interest from locals, despite the fact it did house major computer and IT retailers. Now, One TJ is more popular as the mall with a cybercafe where computer games can be played.

ONEJAYA SHOPPING COMPLEX

One Jaya

OneJaya is located within a housing area and it houses a few small boutiques. Over the years however, OneJaya has failed to retain its appeal, and most shops now only occupy two floors.

ST3 Mall

ST3 Shopping Mall is known better as an entertainment mall as it has a karaoke joint, a huge cyber cafe and several night spots.

EASTERN MALL (In Siburan)

Eastern mall

Eastern Mall is a one storey mall located in the the sub-urbs of Kuching, known popularly as Siburan. The mall is always busy and packed, and has a huge hypermarket as its anchor tenant.

SUMMER MALL (In Samarahan)

Summer Mall

MATANG MALL

Matang Mall

Matang Mall is located just about 10 minutes drive from Kuching City Center. It’s five storey mall with narrow escalators and is located within the Matang Jaya satellite town. The mall is still in its infancy, and tenant-ship is still rising. Matang Mall isn’t a major mall in Kuching, so there’s little to say about it.

MOYAN SQUARE

Moyan Square is a small community mall serving the semi-urban side of Moyan near Batu Kawa in Kuching.

AEON MALL CENTRAL PARK

AEON Mall Central Park opened its doors in April 2018.  It’s one of Kuching’s best equipped mall with tonnes to do and see.  It is currently the only mall which offered charging stations and free WIFI. Learn more about this mall here.
