Parts of Kuching – Serian road closed at night until 17 December 2021

Parts of the Kuching – Serian road will be closed during specific hours at night to allow road improvements to be made along the 6th to 10th Mile stretch.

A report by DayakDaily portal said that JKR Sarawak will be carrying out maintenance works from 1 December 2021 until 17 December 2021 on the said stretch, with road diversions implemented when the operations are carried out.

It is noted that maintenance on the road will be done from 8PM to 5AM during the said period which means the road will be passable as usual during the day.

JKR nonetheless assured the public that the road will be usable soonest after the works are completed.

In the meantime, they also adviced those plying the route to follow traffic safety signs and to plan their journey in advance.

Traffic jam stretch

The 6th to 10th Mile stretch is currently well known for its traffic woes as constructions on three major overpasses are on-going.

Previously, the junction at 6th Mile was also closed to facilitate works connected to the 6th Mile overpass.

Some motorist have resorted to using the Samarahan Outer ring road to avoid the jam during peak hours, while others have no choice but to go through the jam on a daily basis.

It is nonetheless hoped that the constructions will be completed soonest so that traffic along the stretch will become smooth.
