New bridge for Kuching City

The state government will build a foot and bicycle bridge across the Sarawak River in the city centre to further integrate the two parts of the city.

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said he had directed Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) to invite Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) to study the possibility of building the bridge.

Taib believed that the bridge would help facilitate greater mobility between the two areas, adding that the state government would look at providing facilities for the convenience of the people.
