Kuching’s Hydrogen ART starts plying Kuching-Samarahan route

25 days POC begins til December 15

The much hyped Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Hydrogen Vehicle (H2V) started its Stage 2 Proof-of-Concept (POC) exercise along a section of the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.

In a video shared by Sarawak Metro, the white and purple ART H2V moved along the newly completed the dedicated lane between the two roundabouts near Sarawak Heart Centre and Instituta Latihan Perindustrian (ILP).

Based on a notice by Sarawak Metro, the POC exercise along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway will be carried out from 5am to 8pm until Dec 15, which is about 25 days.

A video of the trail run can be seen below.

The prototype Hydrogen ART vehicle was previously moved from Kuching Ithmus to La Promenade Mall Samarahan last Saturday in preparation for this POC.

At Kuching Ithmus, it was doing its first engineering run for two months.

The ART, already the first of its kind in the world, will also break another record as it also utilises Southeast Asia’s first Transit Signal Priority (TSP) systembetween these two roundabouts it will pass at ILP and the Sarawak Heart Centre.

Borneo Post reported that the system was developed by a Sarawakian company, and is meant to regulate traffic along the expressway once the ART starts being operational.
