Kuching’s 7AM – 7PM movement limit remains

The Malaysian government had announced an 8AM – 8PM movement limit in Malaysia, but Kuching’s (and Sarawak’s in general) movement limit remains from 7AM – 7PM.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee statement, the move is to avoid confusion among the public and disruption of businesses as well as logistic and transportation sectors which had already been accustomed to the time set by the Sarawak government prior to the new time frame announced by the federal government.

Sarawak in general has one of the strictest movement control since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was announced last 18 March 2020 to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aside from the 7AM – 7PM movement limit, inter-district travel within Sarawak had also been enforced.

Sarawak had also sealed off borders but allowed Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes at the Brunei and Kalimatan entry points to open for limited hours during the MCO period.
