Kuching South asked people to ‘mask-up’ in several areas
Traders, food stall operators as well as members of the public going to hawker centres and public markets within the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) have been asked to continue wearing the face mask.
Wearing mask is also enforced when entering MBKS buildings.
According to an article by DayakDaily, the council had conducted a poll among the public last week and many still favoured the idea.
MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng was quoted by the online news portal as saying that such move (to wear face mask) will be reviewed again after a couple of months.
Currently, the Sarawak and Malaysian government has made it optional to wear face mask from September 7, 2022.
Wearing of face mask prior to that was made mandatory to reduce Covid-19 infections particularly in crowded places.
