Kuching ART Red Line physical construction begins
The Red Line of the Kuching Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) has gone into its physical construction phase.
News of work was shared by Sarawak Metro’s post on their official Facebook page.
The line which connect Kuching Sentral to Pending with current works focusing on site clearing and installation of hoarding walls at the location designated for future Kuching ART Red Line stations.
Sarawak Metro also explained that works are currently progessing around Pelita Heights and Swinburne University, as well as along Jalan Tun Razak.
In addition to the start of construction for the ART Red Line, Sarawak Metro also gave update on the proposed ART Interchange Station at Simpang Tiga.
The company said that piling works are currently being done for the detention pond. These works are in preparing for the Main Load Tests for station piers and rebar fabrication for bore piles.
Meanwhile, the company also gave updates on the Blue Line which had first started construction.
According to their brief statement, works on the temporary bridge crossing Sungai Kuap is on-going.
The construction works had completed the foundation casting, with steel pipe piling and installation of the Bailey truss beams coming up next.
The bridge is part of the Blue Line Package 1 of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project which will connect Rembus in Kota Samarahan to Stutong in Kuching.
It includes seven ART stations.
