Kuching will soon be home to three underpasses with the up-coming construction of the Darul Hana Underpass.
The proposed underpass would be located in between Petros Darul Hana Multi-fuel Station and the Masjid Darul Hana.
Once completed, it will connnect Petra Jaya to Pending.
According to an announcement by Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), the contract to build the underpass started on 15 July 2024, with it being schedule for completion in two years, namely on 14 July 2026.
Due to the construction, Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin (or better known as “Jalan Tol” among locals) would experience distruption as works to build a temporary road would be started from September 4, until December 3rd, 2024.
Based on the graphics shared by LCDA, the underpass will likely be deeper than the one in Petra Jaya as the artist illustration show the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) coming out of the underpass with busses and trailers also going through the underpass.
Besides the proposed Darul Hana Underpass and the most recently completed Petra Jaya Underpass, Kuching has another underpass in 3rd mile, connecting Batu Kawa to Rock Road.
