285 units solar lights for Bau-Batu Kitang Road
The Sarawak government recently announced that some 285 units of solar lightswill be installed along the Bau – Batu Kitang Road.
The announcement was made by Dato Henry Harry Jinep, and the report was carried out by Borneo Post.
In the report, Henry said that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had approved the project and that sites for the lights have been identified.
It is noted that dark spots as well as overtaking lanes would get priority for installation of the lights.
Henry was also quoted as saying that priority to light up the Bau -Batuk Kitang road was given very high priority since many road users prefer the shorter distance and travel time compared to Bau – Batu Kawa road.
The Tasik Biru assemblyman also was quoted as saying that the lights is one of the components of the Bau – Batu Kitang Road upgrading project.
Welcomed upgrade to road
In case you didn’t know, the Bau – Batu Kitang Road, also called the ‘old Bau road’ links Bau to major places like Steven Yong and Kota Sentosa.
The roads had gone through numerous upgrades in the past, but is usually also heavily used by heavy lorries.
That said, the installation of the lights is much welcomed given the high number of accidents that happen along the stretch.
