Sarawak’s Taylor Louise invited to audition for Britain’s Got Talent

Sarawakian young singer Taylor Louise has been invited to audition for the 20th series of Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) in London.

This marks another major milestone in in her musical journey that has taken her from performing on the streets of Kuching to international stages.

It is understood that Taylor received the invitation after her application and audition video were selected by the programme’s producers. She applied for Britain’s Got Talent for the past two years.

Taylor is scheduled to audition in The KIA Oval, London on September 5, 2026.

In a social media post shared on August 5, Taylor said she was “truly happy, humbled, deeply grateful, excited” and still in shock after receiving the invitation.

“I know it’s only the beginning of the journey and it’s just an audition,” Taylor said, adding that she would be honoured to share “a little voice from Sarawak, Malaysia, with the world.”

From speech delay to finding her voice through singing

Taylor’s musical journey began when she was very young.

In an interview published by the World Online Music Competition in 2025, Taylor said she began singing before she could speak.

She explained that she had a speech delay as a young child and that singing became a way for her to learn pronunciation and communicate.

By the time she was nearly four years old, she had overcome the speech delay through singing.

Her first recorded stage performance was at Kuching Got Talent, where she received a consolation prize.

Taylor subsequently began appearing on more stages and developing her vocal abilities.

Her progress accelerated after she met her current vocal coach, Sabrina Tnay, at the age of nine.

From then on, Taylor started winning numerous awards for her talent as she represented Sarawak and Malaysia on the global stage.

This includes the 27th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach, California where she competed in the 8-to-10 age category and performed across pop, world, Broadway, R&B and soul, to eventually win the Open category and becoming Junior Division Champion.

Her achievements also earned her an opportunity to audition for America’s Got Talent.

In 2025, Taylor continued her winning streak at the Asia Students Arts Festival (ASAF) where she became the only Malaysian finalist among 18 contestants at the Hong Kong finals.

Here she won the 10-to-11 vocal pop category and the international title.

Her ASAF victory took her to London, where she performed at the Royal College of Music’s Britten Theatre. She later received the Winner Showcase Award.

Taylor also made her musical theatre debut in Dreamweaver The Musical, represented Malaysia at the Sanremo Junior World Finals in Italy, and earned First Prize in Musical Theatre and Pop at the Song International Singing Competition UK.

Her international success continued in Paris, where she won First Prize in Pop and the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize at the 2025 International Music Competition Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso.

That said, her invitation to audition for Britain’s Got Talent is testament of her determination and grit, and likely inspiring others to also persue their dreams in such field.
