Sarawak Harvest & Folklore Festival 2023 announced

The Annual Sarawak Harvest & Folklore Festival 2023 will be organized again this year from 18th – 20th August 2023.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) sharing on social media, this 3 days 2 nights festival will be organized by Sarawak Culture Village (SCV) with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP).

It aims to celebrate the diversify of the different ethnic groups in Sarawak and to help both the locals and foreigners to appreciate and comprehend their understanding of other cultures in the world.

Highlight of Sarawak Harvest & Folklore Festival 2023

The highlights of this years festival will be the musical drama staging “Rentap ~ The Battle of Bukit Sadak”.

The musical depicts a legendary and fearless Iban Warrior Rentap, who fought gallantly against James Brooke and his men in the 19th Century.

The story will unfold of fierce loyalty and sacrifices, where it is a battle between the forces of good and evil, jealousy and revenge. He continues to inspire till this day especially with his war cry “Agi Idup, Agi Ngelaban”.

Local famous artist such as Anding Indrawani, Melissa Francis, and Nick Jansen will feature in the musical.

Aside from the musical, the festival will also have the Tribal Ironman Challenge competition which is a strength competition for men who are 18 years of age and above.

Auditions had been held in May with 15 finalists selected to for the final round which will happen during the festival. T

The festival hopes to attract 6,000 people to venue, and 20,000 people through live streaming.
