RWMF 2023 announced for 23 June 2023

The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2023 will be happening this coming 23 June 2023, signalling 26 years of one of the biggest music festivals in Borneo.

Organizers of the festival, the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) anticipate 20,000 visitors for this RWMF 2023, which is a figure not far or almost equal to pre-pandemic days.

Also interesting is the fact this years’ RWMF seems to focus on a man wearing tribal headgear instead of just the sape.

Performers for RWMF 2023

The line-up this year will feature 199 musicians from 12 countries, representing  four continents.

They include Grammy Awards winner,Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo from France of such hits as ‘Djobi Djoba’ and ‘Bamboleo’, Big Mountain’ from Jamaica and the USA, ‘Safi Theatre’ from Tanzania, ‘Rastak’ from Iran, ‘Fasylive’ from Maldives, ‘Afriquoi’ from the United Kingdom, ‘Chatusram’ from India, ‘Rizal Hadi & Folk’ from Indonesia and ‘Ethno Thai Fusion Sound Band’ from Thailand.

Organizers have also stated that the line-up will also include performers from Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

From the local scene, the performers list is very impressive with Zee Avi, Suk Binie, Aseana Percussion Unit, Nadir, Steve Thornton & Afroasia, Sada Borneo, Tuku Kame, Nading Rhapsody, Geng Wak Long, Buloh Bekocak, At Adau, Meruked, and Orang Orang Drum Theatre listed as performers.

RWMF 2023 ticket prices

Ticket prices this year see a slight increase as compared to previous editions.

However, the online agent for the ticketing has changed with the organizers now using KLOOK, as their online ticketing agent.

Prices of the tickets, including early birds and at the door tickets are seen in the poster below, and sales have just started on 15 April 2023.
