About Matang
Matang, a vibrant suburb of Kuching, Sarawak, is a rapidly developing area that offers a mix of urban conveniences and natural attractions.
Located a short drive from Kuching city center, Matang is known for its diverse community, affordable housing, and growing commercial sector. Some have also nicknamed it as ‘the Supermarket hub of Kuching’ as it has attracted major supermarket brands in recent years.
One of Matang’s main draws is its proximity to nature with places like the Matang Wildlife Centre and Kubah National Park being just a stone throw away. The area is also known to be well connected to government buildings, major commercial areas, as well as major educational and healthcare facilities.
Its appeal has seen Matang increasingly attractive as a place to live, especially for young families and those seeking a more affordable lifestyle than in the city center. That said, while Matang is still considered a suburb of Kuching, it has quickly grown into a town in its own right, offering a unique blend of urban and rural living.
