RM10 mil to develop digital application for Sarawak hospitals

The Sarawak government has allocated RM10 million to develop digital application for Sarawak government hospitals.

According to a report by New Sarawak Tribune, the application will link government hospitals in Sarawak.

This in turn will improved efficiency and accessibility of patient medical records and allow records to be easily transferred without the need of calling or searching for the patients manual record.

This also would likely mean that patients in the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, need not bring their records to other government hospitals in Sarawak as their records would be easily accessible in other government hospitals like in Sibu or Bintulu through digital information transactions.

Despite the ease of information transfer, it is understood that the patient must however consent to the exchange of information before it is viewed by the next hospital.

The move is likely to curb abuse of the system.

The new digital application will replace the current manual or phone-based system which is used in all public hospitals.

Aside from the allocation set aside for the new digital application, no date on when the application would be finished or used was mentioned in the news report.
