The 2025 Miri Marathon is expecting some 8,000 runners when they blow the starting horn this coming April 13, 2025.
Accoring to Borneo Post, the sum of RM100,000 in cash prizes are expected to be won, with the organizers, the Miri Marathon Association, also expecting a large number of international participants.
This expectation was due to the 46 percent of international participants already registered as of January 12 this year.
According to UKAS, some 5,118 runners have registered for the marathon, with the marathon recognized by the World Athletics and Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
Such recognition meant that the Miri Marathon 2025 is also an official platform to qualify for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Championships.
Event Details
The official website stated that the Miri marathon features four categories: the 42.195KM Full Marathon, the 21.0975KM Half Marathon, the 10KM Speed Run, and the 5KM Fun Run.
Each category is designed to cater to different levels of runners, ensuring that everyone can participate and enjoy the event.
The race will start at Jalan Merpati, a scenic route that showcases the natural beauty of Miri.

JomRun stated that participants can collect their race packs from April 10 to 12, 2025. The pack includes an event tee, a finisher tee (for 21 km and 42 km finishers), and a finisher medal. The collection venue will be announced later.
